White House counselor Kellyanne Conway on Friday indicated that President Trump is ready to shut down the government if that's what it takes to get the U.S.-Mexico border wall funded, reports The Hill. Her comment came after 'Fox & Friends' host Steve Doocy pointed out that the upcoming spending bill will not likely include money for the barrier and asked if a shutdown is among the president's possible responses. Conway stated: "The president is keeping all options open." Trump has previously indicated that he is willing to take that extreme measure, telling reporters in July: "If we don't get border security after many, many years of talk within the United States, I would have no problem doing a shutdown."
A day later, he tweeted: "I don't care what the political ramifications are, our immigration laws and border security have been a complete and total disaster for decades, and there is no way that the Democrats will allow it to be fixed without a Government Shutdown."
