Florida Senate Race Heading
for a Recount Democrat Bill Nelson and Republican Rick Scott are currently separated by fewer than 35,000 votes, with Scott holding a
very slim lead. Nelson, a three-term incumbent, called for the recount after Scott's advantage shrunk
to 0.4 percent. This is within the
one-half percent margin that
triggers a recount under state law. They have until noon on November 10 to complete the process. The race between Scott and Nelson was one of the nation's most expensive and closely
watched Senate contests.
