After a two-year delay, China has opened the world's longest sea-crossing bridge connecting Hong Kong, Macau and the mainland.
President Xi Jinping attended an inauguration ceremony at a new port terminal in the southern Chinese city Zhuhai, along with the leaders of Hong Kong and Macau.
The bridge spans 55 kilometers and includes an undersea tunnel, cutting travel time across the Pearl River delta from several hours to just 30 minutes.
The nine-year project cost 20 billion U.S. dollars and claimed the lives of at least 18 workers and injured hundreds more.
