White House advisor Jared Kushner said on Monday that he advised Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman “to be fully transparent.”

President Trump's son-in-law and White House adviser Jared Kushner reportedly said on Monday that he advised Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman "to be fully transparent" in the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Kushner, in an interview at CNN's CITIZEN forum, also commented: "We're getting facts from multiple places and, when those facts come in, the secretary of state will work with our national security team to help us determine what we want to believe and what we think is credible."  Notably, President Trump has criticized Saudi Arabia's assertion that Khashoggi was inadvertently killed in a fistfight gone too far.  Trump has also said that Saudi Arabia is an important U.S. ally and customer, with a roughly $110 billion arms deal in the works, according to the Washington Post. While a number of officials, including Kushner, have stressed the importance of keeping up good relations with the Saudis, Senator Lindsey Graham has warned that a failure to exact punishment will result in a lack of respect from that nation's leadership.
