A high-speed commuter train ran through a crowd of people on the rail tracks in northern India Friday, killing at least 59 people on Friday. According to Reuters, the incident marks India’s worst rail disaster of 2018 thus far. Video footage from the scene showed hundreds had gathered near Amritsar in the state of Punjab. As they watched the burning of an effigy as part of the Dussehra festival celebrations, a commuter train ran through the crowd.
