Ingredients:
6 Bread slices
1/2 cup ghee
Syrup
1/3 cup Water
1/3 cup Sugar
2 crushed Black cardamom
6 Saffron strand
Rabdi
3 cups Milk
1/4 cup Khoya (optional)
1/4 tsp Green Cardamom powder
1 tbsp Cashews, chopped
1 tbsp Almonds, chopped
1 tbsp Pistachio, chopped
Silver warq (Optional)
Method of preparation:
Heat milk in a vessel, boil it on low to high flame.
Keep stirring the milk.
Heat another vessel, add water, sugar, saffron, green cardamom and cook it on medium to low flame till sugar starts dissolving.
Take another pan and heat ghee in it, fry the bread slices in it.
Transfer the slices of bread into the sugar syrup for 30 seconds and then move they on to a plate.
Add khoa to the boiling milk, stir well and ensure that the khoa dissolves.
Add the sugar syrup into the milk mixture while the flame is off.
Once you're done adding the syrup, switch on the gas and mix it well.
Assembling:
Place a layer of bread pieces and top it with the milk mixture.
Repeat the same process for more to layers, garnish it with dry fruits, rose petals and silver warq.
Refrigerate the Shahi Tukda for 1 hour and it is ready to serve.
