Cyclone Titli overturned several heavy trucks on a highway in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh, India, on October 11.

A stretch of highway near Kaviti village resembled a war zone with several capsized trucks dotting the road.

A district official said vehicles had been stopped from entering Srikakulam district on the night of October 10.
However, a few had ignored the warning and ventured into the district.

“We are collecting information on the fate of the drivers, who seem to have escaped,” said the official.

Cyclone Titli swept through the Bay of Bengal and lashed at the coastal states of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh after making a landfall this morning.

Wind speeds reaching 150 kilometres and heavy rains have killed at least eight people in Andhra Pradesh.

In Odisha, nearly 300,000 people have been evacuated to safe shelters.

Half a million people have lost access to electricity and flights and trains into the region have been cancelled.
