After reports of Nikki Haley's resignation surfaced, Twitter users started speculating about her replacement.
Following the news of UN Ambassador Nikki Haley's resignation on Tuesday, Twitter was abuzz with speculation that she could be replaced by first daughter Ivanka Trump. When talking about her decision to vacate her post, Haley offered praise for Ivanka Trump and described her husband, Jared Kushner, as "a hidden genius that no one understands." The outpouring of tweets on the topic included, "If TRUMP actually launches Ivanka as a new US ambassador...I'm not going to be surprised at all! I'm going to be rolling my eyes but surprised? NO..!" and, "Wouldn't surprise me if Nikki Haley's replacement was Ivanka." Actor Michael Ian Black offered a possible scenario of how that appointment could play out over time, writing: "He's going to make Ivanka UN Ambassador. Then he'll run her as VP in 2020. Then she'll be president, life will finally catch up to House of Cards, and then we can cancel Netflix. What I'm saying is, in the long run, Nikki Haley quitting could save us 8 bucks a month." Another Twitter user imagined a chain-of-events as well, noting, "Ivanka likely wants to go back to New York. UN ambassador would give her job & platform at UN. If Trump fires Sessions, Graham replaces him as AG, Trump would have AG who would do his bidding. Haley would be appointed Senator of SC by Republican Gov." Notably, Haley's kind words about Jared did not go overlooked. Among the tweets acknowledging them were, "Nikki Haley thanks Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, says they 'do a lot of things behind the scenes that I wish more people knew about,'" and, "Why do I get the hype Nikki Haley gave Jared is trying to line him up for her position 'hidden genius.' I thought it was going to be Ivanka. You know it is going to be someone that is highly controversial anyway."
