Typhoon Kong-rey making way toward Korean Peninsula _ 100518

Good morning. Typhoon Kong-rey is edging toward the Korean Peninsula, and will bring torrential showers and strong winds. Right now, Kong-rey is battering Japan's southern prefecture of Okinawa.

Most regions are affected by the typhoon, seeing heavy showers and strong gusts with typhoon and high wave advisories issued in waters off Jeju and with a wind speed of 15 to 22 meters per second are expected throughout the day for Jeju.

What's more, rain will pour down as the day goes on, Jeju and regions in Korea's eastern and southern coastal regions will need to brace for severe stormy weather with heavy showers.

Upper regions will also see showers as the morning goes on, and there should be a bit of a drop in the temperature readings.

Morning lows in most parts are kicking off higher than Thursday in mid teens.

Highs in Seoul will be cooler at 18 degrees, the rest of the country will see highs ranging from 18 to 24 degrees. Check your travel schedules in advance as delays and cancellations seem unavoidable.
