According to a report by Business Insider, on Sunday, a senior US official said that tensions between the United States and China are escalating after this weekend when a US Navy destroyer sailed close to the contested South China Sea. During the exercise a Chinese destroyer approached the US ship in what Navy officials called an "unsafe and unprofessional maneuver.
