Thunderstorm Brings Heavy Rain to Drought-Stricken Broken Hill, New South Wales

Residents in the town of Broken Hill, New South Wales, rejoiced on Wednesday, October 3. when a thunderstorm struck, bringing heavy rains to the drought-afflicted region.

Several hours earlier, an intense dust storm swept through Broken Hill, forcing locals to hide in their homes.

The town received 34.2 mm of rain overnight after the dust storm passed, according to the ABC, double the amount reported for the whole year to date.
