Janelle Monae Starring
in Harriet Tubman Biopic The 32-year-old entertainer has signed
on to tell the story of Harriet Tubman's
journey in freeing hundreds of slaves via the
Underground Railroad, according to 'Variety.' In addition to being an accomplished
singer, Monae has proven she has
acting chops from her previous roles
in 'Moonlight' and 'Hidden Figures.' Others starring in the
film include Cynthia Erivo, Leslie Odom Jr., Joe Alwyn, Jennifer Nettles and Clarke Peters. Monae's role has
yet to be specified. The film will be directed by Kasi Lemmons from a script she co-wrote with Gregory
Allen Howard.
