Strong waves were churned up along the coast of southern Greece as a “Medicane” – a Mediterranean cyclone – named Zorbas brought torrential rain and fierce winds to the region.

This footage shows waves smashing along a beach in the coastal city Kalamata, located on the Peloponnese peninsula. The waves knock over street side umbrellas by the beach and drench several passerby.

According to Ekathimerini, Methoni and Finikounda, also in Peloponnese, were other seaside communities pummeled by waves due to Zorbas. Credit: Acris Callas via Storyful
