The Supreme Court is likely to pronounce its judgment on the entry of women into Sabarimala Temple in Kerala today. A five-judge bench is examining the legality of prohibiting women between the ages of 10 and 50 from entering the temple due to “impurity”. A group of five women lawyers has challenged Rule 3(B) of the Kerala Hindu places of public worship, which authorises restriction on women “of menstruating age.
