Electronic cigarettes are not replacing regular cigarettes according to local research released on Thursday.
The National Tobacco Control Center found that electronic cigarette users also smoked regular cigarettes instead of completely switching to electronic ones, increasing their overall amount of smoking.
The survey was conducted on more than two-hundred smokers last year and the results were published in the British Medical Journal in August.
Electronic cigarette users said they chose to use electronic cigarettes thinking they are less harmful and with intention to quit smoking.
Other research done earlier this year on some five-thousand-five-hundred smokers found that 98 percent of electronic cigarette users also smoked regular cigarettes.
