The Trump administration is going to make it harder for immigrants to get their U.S. residency. If at any point they received public benefits, the administration will make it harder for them to qualify. According to Reuters, these benefits would include food aid, public housing, or Medicaid. They will be reviewing this in order to see if the potential resident would be a “public burden.” Although U.S. immigration law already does this, now the guidelines will include more public benefits.
