New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern spoke partly in Maori in commemoration of the Maori Language Week, as seen in a video released on Tuesday, September 11.

During a visit to Wellington High School on Monday, Ardern said she regretted not learning the country’s indigenous language that is “now living and thriving”, Stuff reported. The prime minister aimed at making Maori part of schools’ core curriculum and so that her generation would be the last to “regret not having the chance” to learn the language.
