According to Reuters, civil unrest is growing in Basra.
The southern Iraqi city is home to 2 million residents, but in recent months the municipal water supply has become contaminated with salt.
Power outages have also made conditions in the city difficult for it's residents, as the summer heat has routinely reached over 40 degrees Celsius.
On Sept. 7th, disgruntled protesters stormed the Iranian consulate, and the water treatment plant at a nearby oilfield.
