Syria's mad Syria-ous about their YouTube channels

SAN BRUNO, CALIFORNIA — TomoNews has found yet more channels linked to or affiliated with the Syrian government are on YouTube.

And this could be a problem for the Alphabet-owned platform. U.S. sanctions prohibit American companies from providing services to Syria without obtaining a license from the Treasury Department.

Several of the channels found are linked to the General Organization Of Radio and TV - Syria, or ORTAS for short. ORTAS is specifically listed on the U.S. Treasury Department's list of Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons.

Now, to be clear, just because we didn't see ads on some of the following channels doesn't mean there are none. It also doesn't mean Syria's getting a cut, but YouTube is.
