A huge column of toxic black smoke from an industrial fire in West Footscray billowed over Yarraville and stretched out several more kilometres over the western Melbourne suburbs on August 30.
Firefighters said that more than 20 units, including aerial equipment, responded to the fire and alerted that “toxic smoke may impact an area 2 Kilometres around Somerville Road and Paramount Road West Footscray,” warning people to avoid the area.
