A South Korean national is shot and killed in the Philippines.
The man in his 20s was found dead in the corridor of a motel in Cebu at around 6:15 pm Sunday local time.
He was shot 8 times, in his head, chest and hands.
Local police have a suspect and are looking for him.
The victim's family has been contacted, and officials from the Korean consulate general on the famous tourist island as well as staff from Korean Desk have been dispatched to coordinate and conduct a thorough investigation with authorities there.
The Korean Desk is a program run by the Korean and Philippine national police agencies to work specifically on crimes involving Koreans.
It was set up in 2010 as the local Korean community grew and there was an increase in crimes targeting them.
