A Big Island, Hawaii, resident captured the rise of flooding next to her home on August 24, thanks to rain brought by Storm Lane, showing how what was a shallow waterway a day earlier became a raging torrent.
Parts of the Big Island saw more than 42 inches of rain between midday on August 22 and 9 pm on August 24, according to the National Weather Service.
