Sitting down for a family dinner is fortunately an everyday... or at least fairly regular... occasion for most of us.
But on the first night of the family reunion at the Mount Kumgang resort,... the families had a chance to enjoy THEIR first dinner together in over decades.
Kan Hyeong-woo tells us more about the banquet.
"Brother, please take good care of your health."
For the participants at the family reunion, words were not enough to describe how much it meant to see their relatives for the first time in over six decades and have dinner with them.
Following the first session of reunions on Monday, the families sat down at each table with their long-lost relatives and enjoyed the official banquet... hosted by North Korea.
Saying a few words at the banquet,... Vice Chairman of North Korea's Committee for Peaceful Reunification, Pak Yong-il said the Red Cross of the two Koreas should work together to resolve humanitarian issues on the Korean Peninsula.
Also speaking at the dinner,... the head of the South Korean Red Cross Park Kyung-seo said the two Koreas should let the separated families know whether their relatives are alive, allow them to meet each other without restrictions and spend the rest of their time together in their hometowns.
During the two hour long banquet, the reunited families were served a course menu... including red bean bread, fried chicken, pork soup and five-grain rice along with North Korea's signature Taedonggang beer.
As the families clinked their glasses together and drank to each other's well-being, the special dinner will always be in their hearts.
