Kofi Annan, Former UN Secretary-General, Dies At The Age Of 80

According to a report by CNN, the first black African leader of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, has died at the age of 80. While serving as the Secretary General of the UN, Annan's efforts to combat the threat of global terrorism and to secure a more peaceful world earned him the Nobel Peace Prize. Since 2007, Annan also served as a member of 'The Elders,' a humanitarian group of a dozen leaders and activists of worldwide stature formed by Nelson Mandela, becoming the group's chairman in 2013.
