President Trump on Friday again went after Andrew Cuomo.
President Trump on Friday blasted Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo for stating that America "was never that great." "Wow! Big pushback on Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York for his really dumb statement about America's lack of greatness," Trump said in a series of tweets. "I have already MADE America Great Again, just look at the markets, jobs, military- setting records, and we will do even better. Andrew 'choked' badly, mistake!"
"When a politician admits that 'We're not going to make America great again,' there doesn't seem to be much reason to ever vote for him," the president further noted. "This could be a career threatening statement by Andrew Cuomo, with many wanting him to resign-he will get higher ratings than his brother Chris!" Trump was referring to an address Cuomo gave on Wednesday. While he started with the words Trump quoted, he went on to state that the country "will reach greatness when discrimination and stereotyping against women, 51 percent of our population, is gone. And every woman's full potential is realized and unleashed and every woman is making her full contribution." Cuomo's office later released a statement, clarifying that the comment on America's level of greatness was a reference to Trump's campaign slogan, "Make America Great Again." It further noted that when the president says such a thing, "he ignores the pain so many endured and that we suffered from slavery, discrimination, segregation, sexism and marginalized women's contributions."
