Heatwave to continue, passing showers in some regions _ 081318

Good morning, Seoul woke up from its 23rd straight tropical night this morning. Warm nights and days will continue this week.

Heatwave alerts have been re-issued to many regions in the east. Daegu will also notice warmer temperatures. Seoul will just be as hot.

Parts of the upper regions could see passing showers during the day but it won't bring any relief from the heat.

Most parts will see highs rising to the mid-thirties, Seoul, Daejeon and Gyeongju getting up to a blistering 35 degrees this afternoon.

With that, let's take a look at the international weather for viewers around the world.

Blistering heat and high humidity will continue in South Korea while the North will have unstable weather conditions.

More than 54,000 people were moved to high ground in the Philippine capital and nearby provinces over the last two days due to flash floods caused by heavy rain brought on by the 14th typhoon of the season, Typhoon Yagi.

Sydney shivered as a cold front brought fierce winds to region over the weekend, temperatures will go up a couple of notches on Monday.

Severe thunderstorms and scattered showers in the D.C. Area will continue into Monday.

As for South America, in Buenos Aires expect clouds with light rain early on,... with the weather then becoming partly cloudy.

Heavy showers and thunderstorms are set to hit large parts of the UK on Monday, which could lead to power cuts and train cancellations.

Lastly to Africa, searing heat could make countries in North Africa as well as around the Persian Gulf unlivable, in fact the past three years have been the hottest in Egypt since temperatures started being recorded.
