Protesters Block Man From Passing Through Downtown Charlottesville

Protesters in downtown Charlottesville, Virginia, refused to let a man pass by them on August 12, after he belittled them by saying “you’ve got a lot to learn” and “you’re children.”

Demonstrators marched through Charlottesville for the one-year anniversary of the Unite the Right rally in which Heather Heyer was killed, as well as to protest the “Unite the Right 2” rally taking place in Washington, DC, on that day.

Police initially blocked off 4th Street at the intersection with Water Street to stop people from going to the exact spot the ramming attack occurred, but then later allowed a group, including Heyer’s mother&, to enter. Credit: Héctor E. Alcalá via Storyful
