President Moon Jae-in has confirmed Lee Kai-ho as the new Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
The two-term lawmaker received his certificate of appointment at the presidential office of Cheong Wa Dae on Friday, a day after the National Assembly confirmed him for the role.
Lee served as a vice governor of Jeollanam-do Province from 2009 to 2011, and entered parliamentary politics after winning a by-election in 2014.
He served as a member of the agriculture, livestock and fishery parliamentary committee and was also a supreme council member of the ruling Democratic Party.
The appointment comes four months since the seat was left vacant after Lee's predecessor quit to become the Governor of Jeollanam-do Province.
President Moon now has six ministers in his administration who were once lawmakers.
