Sales at duty-free shops on Jeju Island reached an all-time high in the second quarter, thanks mainly to the return of Chinese tourists.
According to Statistics Korea, the figures from April to June were up by around fifty-eight percent on-year.
The number of foreign visitors in Jeju International Airport also jumped by one hundred and forty percent compared to the same period last year.
The key contributing factor is the rebound in Chinese tourists, after numbers dipped due to Beijing's retaliatory measures over Seoul's deployment of the THAAD missile system.
