A storm sparked a sudden, fast-moving flow of debris that ripped through the alpine village of Grugnay in Chamoson, Switzerland, on August 7, causing damage to roadways, bridges, and homes, local reports said.

Nathan Coudray, who was visiting the area, starting recording video from a bridge in Grugnay as the flow approached. As it began barreling under the bridge and spewing mud upwards, Coudray and other bystanders quickly rushed to safety,

Local media and social media users shared images of the debris flow that showed it spilling onto roadways and properties, and violently spewing mud onto the same bridge seen in Coudray’s video. Credit: Nathan Coudray via Storyful
