Two animals died and several visitors were injured after large chunks of hail pounded the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs on August 6.

In a Facebook post, the zoo said that one of the deceased animals was a 4-year-old muscovy duck named Daisy. The other was a 13-year-old cape vulture named Motswari.

This video shows zoo visitor Jesse Barkalow taking cover at the grizzly bear exhibit. He said that they had been expecting rain when “baseball-sized hail started falling.”

“The bears were running around in panic but they didn’t have any shelter to hide under,” Barkalow added. “Everyone was safe but it was scary to watch and some of the hail was coming into the space.” Credit: Jesse Barkalow via Storyful
