Firefighters battled brush fires in Makaha Valley and Waianae Valley in Hawaii on August 4, prompting evacuations along Waianae Valley Road late Saturday, local media reported.

The fires on Oahu’s west coast were among the “bigger brush fires in recent memory,” Honolulu Fire Department Fire Captain Scot Seguirant told the Honolulu Star Advertiser.
