This week we remember the land rights activist Berta Cáceres with a special English-subtitled version of the documentary Berta Vive. She was murdered at her home in March 2016, after a long campaign to prevent foreign energy companies from building a hydroelectric dam on indigenous land.
150 years after Marx and Engels called for the abolition of private property, land activists are being killed in their hundreds the world over. A large proportion of land disputes are in Latin America, where large multi-national corporations are destroying the local ecology, exploiting workers, and have been implicated in the killing of environmental activists.
