Investing.com - Coinbase has hired the global head of compliance at Pershing to oversee the cryptocurrency exchange's compliance department.Coinbase said hiring Jeff Horowitz is "one more important step" in making the exchange the "most trusted" cryptocurrency service.Horowitz spent 12 years at Pershing, a unit of BNY Mellon, following key posts in compliance and anti-money laundering at Citigroup (NYSE:C), Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) and Lehman Brothers. Horowitz also worked as a banking regulator at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.The hiring comes at a time when Coinbase is aggressively expanding into new products and markets, partly to attract institutional investors.In hiring Horowitz, Coinbase stressed that regulatory compliance will be "critical" as the company grows and matures.
