Eel Fire Ignites As Third Wildfire in California's Mendocino County

The Eel Fire sparked on July 31 as the third wildfire burning in Mendocino County, California, burning 865 acres within the first four hours, according to the Mercury News.

Firefighters were already battling the River and Ranch fires, combined into the Mendocino Complex at more than 90,000 acres.

Cal Fire tweeted that the Eel Fire was curbed at 865 acres on August 1.

The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office issued mandatory evacuations for the Covelo area on July 31. No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported.
