Rookie QB Sam Darnold Inks Contract With the New York Jets Sam Darnold has ended his contract holdout after signing a four-year, $30.25 million fully-guaranteed contract with the Jets. According to NFL.com, there is also a team option for
a fifth season. The USC quarterback was selected third overall by New York in the 2018 NFL Draft. Up until his signing, Darnold had stayed away from Jets training camp due to a contract clause centering around forfeitures of guaranteed money. He will now battle Josh McCown and Teddy Bridgewater for the starting quarterback position heading into the preseason. Whether or not the missed practice time hurts Darnold's chances of winning the gig remains to
be seen.
