Good morning. Typhoon Jongdari hit western Japan over the weekend, causing casualties in nine prefectures... but the weakening typhoon is likely to have little impact on South Korea.
Eastern parts of Gangwon-do and Gyeongsang-do provinces will have light showers while Jeju Island will receive 10 to 40 millimeters of rainfall.
That rain will bring relief from the heat to those regions, while the rest of the country will suffer from even stronger heat throughout the day.
Most parts of the country are waking up to very warm overnight lows, Seoul starts the day at 27 degrees Celsius, other regions wake up to lows of between 24 and 26 degrees.
It will be hotter in Seoul and Daejeon with an expected high of 37 degrees Celsius, Daegu and Gyeongju will have lower highs than yesterday at 34 and 32 degrees respectively, Jeju will be rainy all day at 30 degrees.
