베이징 미 대사관 인근서 폭발 사실 확인
U.S. officials confirmed that a lone bomber set off an explosive Thursday afternoon near the American embassy in Beijing.
Reports had come out saying a blast was heard in the area at around 1 pm local time.
According to witnesses, they felt tremors and heard the explosion several blocks away.
In videos shared on social media, gray smoke could be seen drifting over the street.
Beijing police later identified the bomber as a 26-year-old man surnamed Jiang from the Chinese province of Inner Mongolia.
The homemade bomb didn't injure anyone, but the suspect injured his hand.
The incident wasn't confirmed until later by the U.S. embassy spokesman... who said that an individual had detonated a bomb,... and that local police responded.
