The head of the World Trade Organization says the only way to stop what he called a "global trade war" is a political agreement reached by world leaders.
At a press conference in Geneva on Wednesday local time, Director-General Roberto Azevedo said continuing down the current path will only hurt the global economy.
"This is a political situation. Now this has to be solved at the political level. If we continue down this road, I am sure that we are going to see a slowdown in the economy, we are going to see a loss of purchasing power in every country."
