Democratic Representative Maxine Waters is among President Trump's more vocal critics and, on Sunday, she called him "Putin's apprentice." She said during an appearance on MSNBC: "I think he is Putin's apprentice. He's been under his tutelage for a long time now… And the Republican party should be ashamed that they are allowing it to happen." Waters also speculated on what was discussed during the private conversation between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki. She commented: "This president, I believe, has promised him (Putin) that, once he was elected, he would get those sanctions lifted." Waters and Trump have made it clear that they're not fans of one another. "The American people have put up with this president long enough. What more do we need to see? What more lies do we need to hear?" Waters said last month and called on the public to "push back" on the Trump administration officials they see in public.
Trump responded to her remark on Twitter. "Congresswoman Maxine Waters, an extraordinarily low IQ person, has become, together with Nancy Pelosi, the Face of the Democrat Party. She has just called for harm to supporters, of which there are many, of the Make America Great Again movement. Be careful what you wish for Max!" Trump wrote.
