A gunman killed a woman and shot 13 other people in the Greektown neighbourhood of Toronto late on Sunday. A woman was killed and a nine-year-old girl was critically wounded. Police said the gunman died after exchanging gunfire with police. They said the shooting was not random and that terrorism had not been ruled out. The shooting occurred in the Danforth and Logan avenues area of Greektown, a busy residential area with restaurants and cafes. An army of police, paramedics and other first responders descended on the scene after the shooting, while area residents, some in their pyjamas, emerged from their homes to see what was happening. The incident comes with Canada’s largest metropolis concerned over a spate of shootings, more than 200, this year. About two dozen have been fatal. Canada traditionally has relatively low levels of gun violence, particularly compared with its neighbour the United States.
