A tornado hit a factory in Pella, Iowa, on Thursday afternoon, July 19, causing severe structural damage and injuring a number of people, reports said.
Videos showed extensive damage at one of Vermeer Manufacturing’s factory buildings and vehicles overturned and piled onto others.
The company, which makes agricultural machinery and equipment for the pipeline and forestry management industries, said they were assessing the damage.
Pella Police Lieut. Shane Cox told KCCI TV that some people from the factory were taken to a hospital, but the extent of injuries or the number of people was still unknown.
