2018-07-19 1

The Opposition moved a no-confidence motion against Modi government on the first day of the Monsoon session of Parliament on Wednesday. The motion raised by BJP’s estranged ally TDP has the support of Congress, Trinamool Congress, Nationalist Congress Party, Samajwadi Party, and CPI(M). A no-confidence motion is introduced when a government is deemed no longer fit to hold office. The motion needs the support of 50 MPs in an orderly house. Any house member can give in writing to the Speaker a notice for the motion. On Wednesday, there were over 50 MPs who favoured the motion.
