Whirlwind forms over lava fissure at Kilauea volcano

This whirlwind formed over fissure 8 of the Kilauea volcano in Hawaii on July 10. The USGS said many whirlwinds have formed in this location due to the extreme heat of the lava channel interacting with the air above it. A light wind then pushed the air column to begin rotating.
