U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says getting North Korea to dismantle its nuclear and missiles programs is a "decades-long challenge."
According to CNN,... Pompeo told reporters upon his arrival in Belgium for the NATO summit on Wednesday,... that getting the North to make the fundamental strategic decision that its nuclear weapons are a threat to the regime,... is a challenge that has been lingering for decades.
He said that it will take time, and that it's "ludicrous" to think that denuclearization could be achieved in just hours.
U.S. Vice President Mike Pence, speaking to Fox News on Thursday, also said the U.S. still believes there will be progress on North Korea.
He said President Trump believes the agreement reached at the Singapore summit represents a commitment that the U.S. can make progress on.
