A black tenant claimed he was racially profiled by an off-duty police officer at his apartment pool in Indianapolis, Indiana on Friday, July 6, before unjustly being asked to leave.

Shayne Holland, 23, told Storyful he was questioned by the female officer at River Crossing At Keystone Apartments while sitting on a pool lounger.

He said the officer, who he claimed did not initially reveal her real identity, was not satisfied when he showed her his apartment key fob and pressed him further for an address.

He said his property manager, who he knows well, was called over to discuss the problem but he was still asked to leave the pool area.

He recorded this video of the argument and shared it on his Twitter page.

In the clip, he can be heard asking; “Why do I need to give this lady, who I don’t know, my address?” Suggesting he is the only person being interrogated, he can later be heard saying: “Why do I have to leave my pool?”

Holland has been a tenant at the complex for 17 months, the Indianapolis Star reported.

Alex Stokely, vice president of Barrett & Stokely, the company that manages River Crossing, told the newspaper that the apartment manager has been placed on leave in the wake of the videos. No formal complaint has been lodged against the police officer, according to the report. Credit: Shayne Holland via Storyful
