Silver Creek ‎ "Silver Creek" 1975 US Country Rock

Silver Creek was a superb and unfortunately obscure country-rock band, more experimental than most in the genre. The band was discovered by Merle Haggard who was instrumental in securing their record deal. From the rollicking "Howdy", the beautiful "Lady Like You", a shuffling reinvention of Haggard's "Today I Started Loving You Again", to a mesmerizing 9-minute "Orange Blossom Special" (And that's only Side 1), there is a wealth of good music here. In addition to the country-oriented material, there are classical and jazz touches. A true lost classic....by...Derrick Phillips...~

Silver Creek, came out with their album when music was changing in the field of country, and in my humble opinion stood out from others in a way most scrupulous minds tended to overlook. For theit musical tastes went from one extreme;hard country to rock to bluesy ballads to etereal instrumentals.Doug Atwell did an outstanding job of flowing along with his version of 'Orange Blossom Special' that is still unsurpassed as far as I am concerned! This Lp is well worth listening to,time and time again!I have owned it 3 times, and now still have 3 more copies,as I lost my others years ago...by....
