Brush Fire Sparks Evacuation of Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles

A brush fire that broke out near Griffith Park in Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon, July 10, sparked the evacuation of more than 2,000 people from the Griffith Observatory.

The Griffith Park Fire, which started around 2 pm, burned through 25 acres and was 80 percent contained by about 5 pm, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Eric Scott, fire captain and public information officer at the Los Angeles Fire Department, said a few vehicles were burned by the fire, but there were no injuries and no threats to any structures.
