A ship carrying eight people attempted to break Israel’s naval blockade of the Gaza Strip on July 10.
In this footage, which was originally posted to SnapChat, a flotilla of boats set sail from Gaza port headed to sea in the second attempt in two years to break through the sea blockade, local media outlets said.
The boats did not succeed.
The IDF stopped a ship carrying eight people around 12 miles off shore and returned them to Gaza, Israeli news outlets said. Israel has imposed tight restrictions on maritime access to the Gaza Strip since militant group Hamas took control of the territory. Palestinians oppose the blockade which they say has caused economic hardship and has crippled Gaza’s fishing industry. Credit: Mohamad Shnewra via Storyful
