Tropical Storm Chris churned the ocean off North Carolina’s Outer Banks on Sunday, July 8, creating large waves for surfers. The National Weather Service warned of rip currents due to the storm off the coast.
The storm was moving north offshore on Sunday and Monday, and was expected to gain strength and become a hurricane on Monday. However, the storm is not expected to affect the United States other than creating rough surf and rip currents.
